About G.R.A.D. Nite

*ATTENTION: GRAD Night plans are unknown at this point. Stay tuned for more information about graduation and GRAD Night.

What is G.R.A.D. Nite?

Mira Costa High School's G.R.A.D. Nite is an all-night party of thoroughly extravagant proportions thrown each June exclusively for the graduating class. The party is substance-free and provides a safe environment for the current graduating class to celebrate together one last time.  Attendees are bused to a secret, private venue where they may participate in games, music, dancing, and many other surprise activities. Click to view video. Why go to G.R.A.D. Nite, besides the awesome party?

To keep your Graduate safe on such a special day. Graduation night has the highest death toll of the year for teenagers, because alcohol-related traffic accidents remain the No. 1 killer of America's teenagers, and the evening of graduation is the party night of all party nights. Car accidents cause more teenage deaths than any other factor, and the majority of these accidents happen between 6 pm and 12 am. The percentage of automobile fatalities that involve alcohol jumps from 33 percent to 40 percent on graduation night.

When is G.R.A.D. Nite?

Starts at 8 PM after the graduation ceremony. See GN Rules & Policies for details.

Who is invited to G.R.A.D. Nite?

Graduating students of the MCHS senior class are invited to attend this memorable party. The senior class gathers together for one last celebration together to memorialize their high school careers.

Where is G.R.A.D. Nite?

The location is always kept a secret to ensure the safety of the Graduates and eliminate the challenge of uninvited participants. The G.R.A.D. Nite Committee hires an experienced event planner to ensure that the venue exceeds expectations and provides the perfect party atmosphere.

How do I pay for G.R.A.D. Nite?

To register your graduating senior for G.R.A.D. Nite, you must pay on-line (see GRAD Nite Tickets link above). All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Also, all attendees must have completed registration forms on file with the G.R.A.D. Nite Committee.

Will I receive a physical ticket?

No. Seniors who have paid and completed forms for G.R.A.D. Nite are listed on the "Who's In" page. Upon check in at G.R.A.D. Nite, all registered attendees will receive a personalized badge with their photo on a lanyard. This badge is to be worn at all time during G.R.A.D. Nite.

Are there scholarships available?

Yes! One of the goals of G.R.A.D. Nite is to have all graduates in attendance! If you cannot afford a G.R.A.D. Nite ticket, or you already know that you're eligible for a scholarship, please obtain confirmation from your MCHS counselor.

How long is G.R.A.D. Nite?

The evening begins with registration at 8pm in the Mira Costa High School Auditorium. Special entertainers will perform while the Graduates arrive. After all registered graduates have checked in, coach buses will leave for a secret location. The party begins immediately upon arrival of the first bus and lasts until 4am. Graduates return to MCHS by 5am.

What is there to do at the G.R.A.D. Nite party?

Between the dance floor and the casino, there are so many ways for the Graduates to celebrate together. In the past years, there have been fortune tellers, temporary tattoo stations, candy bars, arcade games, espresso bar, ice cream bar, photo booths and more! The DJ always promises a fun party as most of the Graduates sing and dance until the party comes to an end. In addition to the activities, graduates are offered an extensive buffet dinner and breakfast food in the early hours of the morning. Water and other soft drinks are provided all night.
